Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods is a professional golfer from the United States. He was born on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California. Woods began playing golf at a very young age, and by the age of 21, he had turned professional.
Woods quickly emerged as one of the most dominant players on the PGA Tour, winning his first major championship, the 1997 Masters Tournament, by a record-breaking 12 strokes. He went on to win 14 major championships in his career, which is second only to Jack Nicklaus' 18.
Woods also holds numerous other records, including the lowest 72-hole score in major championship history, the most consecutive weeks as the world's number one golfer, and the most career PGA Tour victories with 82.
In addition to his success on the course, Woods has also faced numerous personal challenges, including a highly publicized scandal in 2009 that led to the end of his marriage and a hiatus from golf. He has since returned to the game and continues to compete at the highest level.
